HERE’S SOME OF OUR WORK FOR OUR CLIENTS
An Important Announcement
A personal message from Stephen Proffitt
Gorge Design Studio will no longer be accepting new website design or development projects. Existing clients will continue receiving hosting, maintenance, updates, and technical support.
After more than 25 years in web development, design, and hosting, I've made the decision to begin retiring from the business side of web development due recent health challenges.
Between now and the end of 2026, I will continue accepting new projects as my schedule allows, giving prospective clients a little time to get their projects underway before I officially close that chapter.
I want to reassure everyone who currently relies on Gorge Design Studio that this announcement does not mean your services are ending.
I will continue providing hosting, website maintenance, updates, and support for my current client base beyond January 1, 2027. The relationships I've built over the years mean a great deal to me, and my commitment to those clients remains unchanged.
When I started working with websites more than two decades ago, the internet was a very different place.
I've watched technologies come and go, survived countless updates, redesigned websites more times than I care to remember, and spent more late nights troubleshooting problems than any sane person probably should.
But through it all, the most rewarding part of this journey has been the people.
I've had the privilege of helping small businesses, organizations, and individuals establish their presence online. Many of those professional relationships turned into friendships, and for that, I'm incredibly grateful.
This wasn't an easy decision. Web development has been a significant part of my life for a very long time.
But as I've gotten older, and recent health challenges (mini-strokes and severe arthritis) I've realized that time is something we don't get back, and I'd like to spend more of mine doing the things I genuinely enjoy.
That doesn't mean I'm walking away from technology. Far from it! I'll continue working on my own projects, including VibeForge, and exploring the things that still spark my creativity and curiosity.
What I am stepping away from is the constant cycle of taking on new client projects, deadlines, proposals, and the pressures that come with running a web development business.
To everyone who has trusted me with their websites over the last 25 years: Thank you.
Thank you for your business, your referrals, your patience, your friendships, and for allowing me to be a small part of your journey.
I'm proud of what I've built, grateful for the people I've met, and looking forward to whatever comes next.
So, if you've been thinking about having me build you a website, you've got until the end of the year to ask. After that, I'll finally have an excuse to say, "Sorry, I'm retired!"
Here's to the Next Chapter!
With sincere appreciation,
Stephen Ward Proffitt
